Bear River squads playing for D-11 titles

A pair of Bear River Little League All-Star squads are battling for District 11 championships after claiming Area 2 titles late last week. Bear River’s Major All-Stars dominated Penn Valley Thursday night in the Area 2 championship game in Nevada City. They play Rocklin in a best-of-three series beginning Saturday in Lincoln. Bear River’s 10-11s topped Penn Valley 15-3 Friday night in the Area 2 title game. Travis Whitehead was 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs to pace Bear River, which is facing Tri-City for the District 11 crown, beginning Saturday in Penn Valley. Nick Mansuetti was 3-for-3 with three RBIs for the Bear River All-Stars against Penn Valley. Matt Lopez was 2-for-3 with three RBIs while Dayton Anderson, Tyler Toft and Nick O’Connor each added two hits. Brett Solomon pitched four strong innings to get the win and Michael Scudero struck out two in one inning to close out the game.
