Bear River won't share PVL title

The Bruins plan on keeping their first Pioneer Valley League volleyball banner all to themselves. Bear River High edged Colfax Monday night at Lake of the Pines to all but secure the outright PVL title, improving to 8-1 in league play heading into Wednesday’s finale at Center. The Bruins beat the Falcons 26-24, 25-17, 12-25, 25-23. Sara Schell, a frontrunner for league MVP honors, finished with 14 kills and four aces to pace Bear River. Katie Tomkiewicz added 12 kills and two aces. Amanda Clark had five kills while Teryn Rath and Kirsten Periera added four each. Pireira added six blocks. Colfax dropped to 6-3 in PVL play and will host Lincoln today.
