Duwaine Ganskie is certainly grateful for a hard-earned vacation and nine days away from the softball field. The Bear River High coach only hopes his team doesn’t cool off too much over spring break.
The Bruins routed River Valley 11-1 Thursday at Lake of the Pines in their final game before the break. Stephanie Ceo was 4-for-4 with two triples and Mackenzie Hollister was 3-for-4 with three RBIs to pace the red-hot Bear River bats.
Erin Nichol pitched three shutout innings to get the win for the Bruins (5-4). Maddie Phelps tossed three innings and worked out of a bases loaded jam in the fourth inning in relief.
Alyssa Reina had a triple and finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Cambria Holcomb also scored three runs and was 2-for-3. Nichol had a double and two RBIs.
Bear River is back in action on April 11 at Foothill.

Del Oro 7, Rocklin 2 at Loomis — The Golden Eagles stormed back from a 2-0 deficit, led by sophomore Courtney Smith, who had a home run and knocked in four runs.
Jordan Courage struck out six in a complete game effort. Bailey Lewis knocked in two runs with a double and Maicy Schwartz added one RBI for the Eagles. Hanna Miller and Hannah George both had doubles as Del Oro improved to 4-1 in the Sierra Foothill League.
