Colfax Boys Win At River Valley, 51-31
YUBA CITY – Will Buell tossed in 18 points, Taylor Dorsey added 11 and Jordan Balser contributed nine more as the Colfax High boys basketball team opened their official 2011-12 season with a 51-31 drubbing of River Valley here Tuesday night.
Colfax (1-0) led 24-17 at halftime before limiting the hosts to just 14 second half points.
“Our defense really set the tone for us tonight,” said Colfax coach Mike O’Connell. “We limited the opposition to single digit scoring in each quarter and that’s always good.”
On Monday, the Falcons received 18 points from Buell and 14 by Matt Larson and led Del Oro with a minute and a half to play but dropped a 54-49 Foundation Game to the Eagles. Colfax will play El Dorado in the first round of the round robin Gold Dust Tournament at 7 p.m. Thursday in Placerville.
Colfax’s two other Gold Dust opponents this weekend will be South Tahoe on Friday and Amador Valley of Pleasanton on Saturday.
