Colfax girls take Cal Spring Classic title

The Colfax High girls soccer team topped a familiar foe Saturday to cap an undefeated run to the championship at the Cal Spring Classic tournament in Woodland.
The Falcons edged Placer 1-0 on Celeena Wall’s goal in the 11th minute in the title game.
Colfax outscored its opponents 12-0 in its four games Friday and Saturday. Iona Lofrano had a hat trick in a 5-0 win over Justin Sienna. Lofrano scored on a penalty kick in a 1-0 win over Vacaville. Kelly Harris had two goals in a 5-0 win over River Valley.
Coach Lefty Wilks credited the defense of Kate Bianchi, Sophia Satterlee, Brittany Thomas, Savannah Neumann and Christina Keyes in the win.
It was the fourth Cal Spring Classic title in a row for the Falcons, who will face Nevada Union on Wednesday.
Forest Lake 7, Cristo Rey 1 at Lake of the Pines — The Falcons opened Central Valley California League play with a rout at home on Thursday.
Freshman Marissa Peterson scored two goals while Makena Wong, Aly English and Morgan Koch scored one each in the first half. Cassidy Green and Stephanie Herron finished off the scoring in the second half.
