Operation Mom would like to thank everyone who helped in our “Make a Difference in a Military Person’s Day” at The Grocery Outlet, Saturday, Oct. 22. The generous folks of our community donated needed supplies and contributed cash for shipping more than 350 packages to our troops for Christmas. We filled three pick-up trucks with products. Thanks to: the Meadow Vista Lions for their generous check of $1,000; the Auburn Kiwanis for cooking hot dogs and hamburgers; Shirley Paris and the E.V. Cain students for writing Christmas cards and wrapping socks in Christmas paper for the troops; The ROTC Whitney High Color Guard, local Boy Scouts, Placer High Key Club and Argonauts robotic club for their help; Vic Yeakle for the entertainment; Dave (Rosenthal) at KHAI for the pre-event on-air interview; The Auburn Journal for the article announcing the event and Auburn Chief of Police John Ruffcorn for being such a good sport and target in the pie throwing. Our special thanks to John and Nancy Stevens of the Grocery Outlet for the use of their store. They provided the hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and sodas. Their generosity is greatly appreciated.
