Placer County court officials are seeking applicants for the 2009-10 Grand Jury. The grand jury is composed of citizens who are responsible for conducting independent and unbiased investigations and making reports concerning all aspects of the operations of both city and county government. The grand jury may also be called on to hear evidence in selected criminal cases. Those who are concerned about the quality of government should apply for the next term starting July 1, 2009 until June 30, 2010. Applicants must be United States citizens 18 years old or older, have lived in Placer County for at least one year immediately prior to becoming a grand juror and be able to commit to at least 25 to 30 hours a month. Grand jurors sometimes meet several times a week and routinely make visits to various public offices and officials.
