Del Oro notches historic win at Nevada Union

The Del Oro High volleyball team made history Thursday with the first win at Nevada Union in school history. The Golden Eagles knocked off the Miners 25-22, 20-25, 25-16, 25-18. Senior Belle Obert crushed 20 kills and added 24 digs as Del Oro improved to 4-3 in the Sierra Foothill League and 24-4 overall. Aly Duffin had nine kills, nine blocks and nine digs along with a perfect night at the service line. Bailey Humes dished out 41 assists and served for eight points, including two aces. Megan Hentschke added 13 digs and Tatum Jungsten tossed in eight kills and four blocks for the Eagles. The Del Oro junior varsity team fell to Nevada Union 25-10, 25-13, falling to 1-6 in the SFL. The Del Oro freshmen fell to Nevada Union 25-13, 25-9. Forest Lake 3, Victory Christian 1 at Lake of the Pines — The Falcons avenged an earlier loss with a 22-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-15 win at home. Emily English came up big with 10 kills and four blocks. Molly Huusfeldt played well with six kills and eight aces while Stephanie Herron had 14 assists and four kills. Junior varsity call-up Morgan Koch contributed 19 digs along with five blocks and four kills. Laura Ritchart tossed in 14 digs and four kills. Forest Lake improved to 7-2 in the Central Valley Christian League and 12-10 overall. The Falcons’ JV team finished a perfect run through the CVCL with a 25-14, 25-9 win over Victory Christian. Forest Lake finished 8-0 in the CVCL and 20-4 overall.
