Del Oro perfect in SFL for third straight year

The Del Oro High girls capped their third straight undefeated Sierra Foothill League campaign with a 58-50 victory at Rocklin Thursday night. The Golden Eagles (23-1 overall, 12-0 SFL) got 20 points from senior Katie Pulliam and used a 10-2 run early in the fourth quarter to take control. Senior Courtney Nolen added 11 points and sophomore Belle Obert had 10 rebounds and seven blocks. Lucy Campbell passed out five assists. Del Oro, which will be the No. 1 seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III playoffs, has won 38 straight SFL games dating back to 2006. Del Oro’s junior varsity beat Rocklin 43-36 to cap a perfect 12-0 SFL season. The JV finished 23-3 overall. The Golden Eagle freshmen fell to Rocklin 52-37 to finish the year 6-6 in SFL play and 15-11 overall. El Dorado 52, Bear River 47 at Lake of the Pines — The Bruins nearly handed the Cougars their only defeat in Pioneer Valley League play, but they couldn’t hold on in the regular season finale. Bear River (17-9 overall, 8-4 PVL) took a seven-point lead into the fourth quarter, but couldn’t finish against the PVL champion Cougars (22-3, 12-0). Sophmore Lindsey Harder led the Bruins with 16 points. Melanie Fry scored 15 and Julie Fry added 10. Foresthill 37, Victory 29 at Foresthill — The Wildfires clinched a playoff berth in a defensive struggle at home. In a makeup game from last Friday, Megan O’Brien had 12 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks to pace Foresthill (12-7 overall, 6-5 Central Valley Christian League). Trysta Ferguson and Crystal Cowan scored seven points each and Katie Spears added 10 rebounds. The Wildfires were No. 10 in Tuesay’s Division V power ratings.
