Del Oro tops Spanish Springs in slugfest

Casey Cox and Freddie Cargile each drove in three runs, Mason Magleby homered and the Del Oro High baseball team win a nonleague slugfest, 15-11 over Spanish Springs in Loomis Monday. The Golden Eagles scored six runs in the first inning and another in the second before the Cougars tagged Del Oro starter Cooper Johnson for eight runs, including two homers, in the top of the third to take an 8-7 lead. The Eagles plated eight more in the bottom of the third and held on to win for the first time since March 31. Cole Perez relieved Johnson and pitched 1 1/3 inning to earn the victory. Del Oro (8-9 overall, 5-3 SFL) resumes league play Thursday afternoon at Woodcreek.
