Ashley Memorial Dog Park opened April 17, 2008, to provide a safe place for dogs to play. Improvements are constantly being made by the Ashley Dog Park Foundation. The park was closed for several days last week due to construction to remedy weed and mud problems. Tim Thornton, Milestone Masonry, was able to find deals on the materials and provide professional installation. This upgrade was made possible with donations, not tax dollars. The Auburn Recreation and Parks District personnel do an exceptional job of maintaining all their wonderful parks. Our thanks to them for all the services: utilities, mowing, trash removal and other services. The rainy season is upon us which will necessitate closure of the park in order to preserve the turf. Muddy areas create danger zones for the users. Please be patient, dog park users, and show your appreciation to keep our park one of the best through your donations of time and money. Be sure to thank those volunteers you see out there for their efforts. If you want an hour of “free entertainment,” go visit the park. Our four-legged friends put on quite a show!
