Eight injured in vehicle rollover in Auburn
UPDATE 3:06 P.M. SEPT. 14 -- Eight Placer High School students have been injured after a Chevrolet Trailblazer rolled over Friday afternoon on eastbound Interstate 80 at Elm Avenue.
According to personnel from the Auburn Fire Department, there were eight passengers. Four were transferred to Sutter Roseville, with one being life-flighted, while two others were taken to Sutter Auburn Faith. Two males were treated at the scene and released.
Placer Union High School District Superintendent Dave Horsey confirmed that eight students were involved in the crash. Steve Caminiti, an official with Placer High School that was originally at the scene, said that the vehicle had left the school grounds for lunch.
Interstate 80 was shut down for a time while a Calstar helicopter landed and the onramp to Highway 49 was closed. The sigalert issued by the CHP has been cancelled and eastbound I-80 is clear.
