LAKE OF THE PINES – Christopher Schwartz-Edmisten had a tough time finding much breathing room at Forest Lake Christian Friday night. The Sacramento Waldorf star’s teammates helped the Waves break away from the Falcons for a 63-57 win and remain atop the Central Valley California League. Forest Lake stayed with Waldorf for most of the night thanks in large part to seniors Robert Bristol and John McDonald, who combined for 43 points. The game was tied a 44-44 with five minutes to play, but a quick 8-0 run by the visitors sent the Falcons into desperation mode. McDonald scored on a tough jumper with 1 minute, 20 seconds left, but a Forest Lake turnover on the ensuing possession doomed the comeback. “They’re a better team than we are right now, but we missed a great opportunity,” Forest Lake coach Dave Thomas said. Schwartz Edmisten, who had scored 40-plus points in five straight games, finished with 31. Senior Teammate Cody McElligott dominated inside, finishing with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Bristol finished with 24 points and three steals. McDonald scored 19 and added five assists.
