First Big Boys Jr. High Hoops Tourney This Weekend

8th Grade Event Is Qualifier to Prestigious TOC

The first big junior high boys basketball tournament of the season will tip off Friday and Saturday at sites in Meadow Vista and Auburn. The Weimar Hills “Warrior Classic” will bring together 16 8th grade teams from the surrounding foothills area with additional squads visiting from Carson City, Nevada; Valley Springs in Calaveras County and Yuba City. Action will be played at the Sierra Hills School gym in Meadow Vista and at the EV Cain School gym in Auburn. First round games will commence Friday afternoon with start times at Sierra Hills set for 3:45, 5:00, 6:15 and 7:30 while tip off times on Friday at EV Cain will be at 4:30, 5:45 , 6:50 and 8 p.m. Second round action will be held Saturday at both sites with the third place trophy game set for 3:15 at Sierra Hills followed by the championship game also at Sierra Hills at 4:30 p.m. For the first time the Weimar Hills tournament has become a qualifier for the prestigious Crescent City Jaycees Tournament of Champions. The Crescent City Tournament, now in its 40th year, beings together 56 teams from Northern California and Oregon.
