Give helping hand to hungry homeless

-A +A
Regarding your front-page article on homeless in Auburn, Journal, Aug. 3: Yes, there does seem to be a great many of them, but we are also a small town. And I am sure that some of them do buy alcohol or drugs with the money they get. But, I also believe some really are hungry. By the grace of God, I have never been homeless. But in my younger years, I do know what it feels like to be hungry. I have given several times to them — but, not money. I will go into the store and get some food for them and if they have a dog, I will buy food for the dog also. I did that on Mother’s Day and when I gave the man the food, he said to me, “If you are a mother, happy Mother’s Day to you.” SHARYN DIGNEO, Auburn
