A Grass Valley man is in jail after he allegedly tried to murder a 75-year-old man found on an airport runway. Cody Robert Feiler, 30, was booked in to the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility in Nevada County on charges of attempted murder Thursday. At about 3:28 p.m., Nevada County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to calls about a man vandalizing property and making threats to homeowners on Norlene Way in Grass Valley. Deputies found Feiler and detained him “due to bizarre behavior and unusual statements,” according to Sheriff Keith Royal. Later in the day Thursday, deputies responded to a call that someone was spotted passed out on the Alta Sierra Airport runway with serious injuries. Emergency responders found a 75-year-old Grass Valley man unconscious and severely injured, Royal said. The man was flown to Sutter Roseville Hospital and underwent emergency surgery for “serious life-threatening injuries,” Royal said. Feiler was charged with attempting to kill the man. No bail had been set as of Friday. The investigation is ongoing. ~ Staff report
