Hillgals come back to top Bruins

The Placer High girls put together a superb 80 minutes at Le Febvre Stadium Tuesday night and knocked off Bear River 2-1 to remain in contention for the postseason.
Junior Sabrina Viscuso broke free for the game-winning goal with five minutes to play as the Hillgals (3-4-1 Pioneer Valley League) rallied from a 1-0 halftime deficit.
Placer’s opening goal came from Brittany Bartle on an assist by Ashley Noder.
“The whole team played really well,” Placer coach Steve Cook said. “We played well for the first 15 minutes and then had a really strong second half. It was a team effort. Defense was definitely one of our strong points.”
Olivia Holmes and Rachel Callahan played outstanding field games for Placer, which will take on Lincoln at Le Febvre Stadium on Thursday.
In junior varsity play Placer topped Bear River 3-1.

Colfax 4, Center 0 at Colfax — The Falcons improved to 7-0-1 in the PVL with a dominant performance at home. Colfax will look to avenge its tie against Bear River earlier this month when it hosts the Bruins on Thursday.
Colfax’s junior varsity squad blanked Center 5-0.

Forest Lake 10, Foresthill 0 at Lake of the Pines — The Falcons spread the goals around as senior goalkeeper Stephanie Herron took the field and scored two herself.
Forest Lake (7-0 Central Valley Christian League) also got goals from Cassidy Green, McKenna Wong, Marissa Peterson, Kayla Agah, Aly English, Morghan Koch and Emily English. Koch had two assists for the Falcons.
