The Placer High volleyball team will venture into the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III playoffs Tuesday, hosting Sacramento at Earl Crabbe Gym. The Hillgals earned the No. 3 seed after winning the Pioneer Valley League title and finishing the regular season with a 16-9 record. Placer will host the 14th-seeded Dragons (10-7), who took fourth in the Metro League. Placer advanced to the section semifinals last season before falling to top-seeded St. Mary’s. Just one starter — junior star Michaela Leonard — remains from that team. Del Oro landed the No. 7 seed in Division II. The Golden Eagles (26-5) will host Buhach Colony to open the playoffs Tuesday in Loomis. Del Oro fell to El Camino in the second round of the 2009 finals. In Division IV, PVL runner-up Colfax (21-12) will hit the road to face Central Catholic (14-2-1) in Modesto. The ninth-seeded Falcons would likely face top-seeded Ripon on Thursday if they advance to the second round. Bear River (27-13) will travel to West Campus to open the Division IV playoffs. The Bruins took third in the PVL while the Warriors (14-1) won the Golden Empire League title. In Division V, Forest Lake Christian landed the No. 4 seed in the eight-team bracket. After taking second place in the Central Valley Christian League, the Falcons (13-10) will host former CVCL rival Vacaville Christian on Tuesday. The winner will likely take on top-ranked Ripon on the road
