Hillmen football hits field Monday

The Placer High football program will begin its summer program on Monday. Varsity players will practice from 4 p.m. to 7 Monday through Thursday. Junior varsity and freshman team practices will run from 3-5 p.m. There will be a football camp for seventh and eighth graders Monday through Wednesday from 9-11 a.m.. Free tennis clinic set for Auburn Racquet Club Renowned tennis coach Wayne Bryan will be on hand Thursday for a free tennis clinic at the Auburn Racquet Club. The clinic is open to both members and non-members. It will be held from 6-7 p.m. There will be prizes, tips and instruction from Bryan. Dunlop tennis racquets will also be available for demos. Bear River basketball camps slated for later this month Bear River Parks and Recreation will host a pair of basketball camps beginning June 23, led by Bear River High coaches Jeff Bickmore and Duwaine Ganskie. The first camp is for boys and girls in grades 3-5 and will meet Monday through Thursday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. The second camp is for boys in grades 6-8 and will meet 1-4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The cost of each camp is $125 per camper. Registration forms for the camp can be downloaded from the Bear River Parks and Recreation Web site www.brrpd.org or, for more information, call 268-7275. Placer girls basketball camps coming up this week The Placer High girls basketball program will host a youth basketball camp next week at Earl Crabbe Gym. Players from third grade through eighth grade can attend the camp from 9 a.m. to noon June 16-20. Third through sixth graders will be in the lower gym, while seventh and eighth graders will be in the upper gym. Cost is $100 per camper. The camp will include a t-shirt, camp prizes and individualized evaluation by coach Scott Barry along with current and former players. Registration forms are available at Placer High. Soccer referee clinics next week 49er United will host a series of soccer referee clinics in June, offering entry level training for officials for the upcoming season. The clinics will be held June 23, 25, 30 and July 2. Canyon View Community Center will host each session from 5:30 p.m. to 10.
