Anthony Amara had four hits, Cameron Southward hit a grand slam and Placer High won its fourth straight Wednesday afternoon, pounding Colfax 16-3 in a Pioneer Valley League blowout. Josh Klem allowed three runs on eight hits in six sharp innings and the Hillmen (12-5-1, 5-3-1 PVL) recorded 17 hits. Evan Staton hit a two-run homer in the second inning to ignite Placer’s bats. Matt Ryan and Nick Mitchell drove in three runs apiece, while Eddie Vanderdoes doubled twice and plated two. Amara also doubled twice and Southward finished with five RBIs. Scott Wright went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for Colfax (4-13, 0-9 PVL). Michael Moore homered and Austin Young added two hits. The Hillmen host Whitney Friday night while the Falcons travel to Lincoln.
