The Placer High wrestling team crushed El Dorado 53-14 Thursday night in Placerville, improving to 2-0 in the Pioneer Valley League. The Hillmen got pins from freshman Mike Valdez at 119 pounds, junior Andrew Naleway (125), senior Carl Pavich (135), junior Joe Thornton (145) and senior Aaron Maddox (152) in the victory. Placer freshman Tony Surverkropp won a major decision at 140, junior Steven Cox won a major decision at 160 and junior Joe Spera took a decision at 215. Freshman Mike Robinson (171) and senior Jake Styler (285) won by forfeit for the Hillmen. Placer’s junior varsity beat El Dorado 56-12, led by pins from Cole West, Brandin Rinaldo and Carter Kendall. Last Thursday, Placer defeated Lincoln 42-29, getting several big pins to clinch the victory. Picking up pins for the Hillmen were Jordan Trout (103), Dalton Richardson (125), Carl Pavich (135), Joe Thornton (145) and Jake Styler (HW). Mitchell Maddox (130), Aaron Maddox (145) and Steven Cox all won major decisions for Placer. The Hillmen will compete at the Clayton Valley Tournament in Nevada on Saturday. On Tuesday, Placer will host its first dual match of the season when Whitney comes to town. Placer will also host Lincoln next Thursday.
