James Dean helps Falcons hold off Foothill, 12-11
COLFAX - James Dean both hit and pitched the Colfax Falcons to their sixth straight Pioneer Valley League baseball win here Friday afternoon but it wasn't easy.
Dean, a senior left hander, went 3x4 at the plate and drove in four runs with a double but it was his pivotal relief pitching in the sixth and seventh innings that preserved the Falcons' wild 12-11 PVL victory over winless Foothill.
Colfax, which trailed in the game on three different occasions, finally shut the door on the Mustangs' bid to spring an upset when Dean set the visitors down in order in the top of the seventh.
Colfax banged out 13 base hits in the game and needed every one of them.
Devon Loomis continued his torrid hitting by going 3x4 at the plate with a pair of doubles and a home run which accounted for three runs batted in.
He was joined in the offensive onslaught by Ryan Glazner who was 2x4 with four RBI which included a game tying three-run home run in a seven-run second inning uprising.
Dave Campbell was 2x4 with a triple and a RBI while Michael Wilson and Wes Woodward both added hits.
Colfax, 10-5 overall and 6-0 in the PVL plays at Foothill on Wednesday. .
