The American Motorcycle Association’s National Speedway Championship has been a three-night series for the past several years. Tonight at Fast Fridays the contenders plan to pack three nights worth of speedway action into one. Veteran Billy Janniro will race after his third national crown and second in a row when the tapes go up at 8 p.m. at the Gold Country Fairgrounds. Janniro will try to fend off 15 other riders, including Fast Fridays veterans Bart Bast, Bryan Yarrow, Charlie Venegas and Tommy Hedden. Other notables in the field include Auburn’s Chris Kerr, 1986 national champ Bobby Schwartz and Charles Ermolenko, the son of two-time national champion Sam Ermolenko. — Todd Mordhorst
