Junior Hillmen football sign-ups now taking place

By JOURNAL SPORTS STAFF Registration is under way for the Placer Junior Hillmen Football program. Kids ages 6 to 14 are invited to join the program. Registration is available online at www.placerjrhillmen.com or in person each Wednesday in May from 6 p.m. to 8 at the Round Table Pizza on Elm Ave. For more information, visit www.placerjrhillmen.com. Placer boys hoops camp coming up The 30th annual Placer boys basketball camp will be held June 8-12 at Placer High. The camp is for boys and girls in third through sixth grade, girls in seventh grade and boys in seventh through ninth grade. The camp will run from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. each day. Cost is $65 for early registrants or $75 at the door and includes a t-shirt and basketball. Wilderness First Aid Class slated The Auburn Ski Club is offering a wilderness first aid course this Saturday and Sunday at Donner Summit. The two-day course will teach participants how to deal with medical emergencies in the backcountry. No experience is required. The two-day course will be held at the Auburn Ski Club Training Center. Placer girls basketball camp on tap The Placer High girls basketball camp is set for June 15-19 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. each day. The camp, led by coach Tony Camillucci, players and assistant coaches, is open to fourth through eighth grade girls. Pick-up soccer Sundays at Railhead All adults are invited to play pick-up soccer each Sunday morning at Railhead Park in Auburn. The open sessions will begin at 9 a.m. and continue each Sunday throughout the summer. The sessions are free. No-play dates are May 31, June 7 and Aug. 9.
