Junior Midgets suffer first loss

The Ponderosa Junior Bruins beat the Placer Junior Hillmen 40-8 Saturday in Junior Midget action to hand the team its first loss. Dustin Edwards scored the lone touchdown on a 45-yard run and Frankie O’Neal kicked a two-point conversion for the Junior Midgets, who fell to 3-1. Ryan Gray ran for 75 yards in the loss. Starting quarterback Zach Madrigal was injured late in the first quarter and did not return. Ponderosa was equally dominant in the other divisions. The Midgets routed Placer 40-0, the Pee-Wees beat the Hillmen 38-0, the Junior Pee-Wees prevailed 20-0 and the Mighty Mites downed Placer 33-7. The Junior Hillmen host the Lincoln Junior Zebras this weekend.
