Just cut administrators’ salaries a little

Elaborating on Ted Smith’s letter, “Research before raising taxes,” Journal, July 20: Can anyone explain to me why raising taxes and tuition for our college students is the only way our lawmakers can find to help continuing education? Has it ever occurred to them to impose even a measly 5 percent reduction in the salaries of all the administrators in the California education system, and redirect that money to our classrooms or wherever it will best serve the students? We’ve been told we must all share the pain of this bad economy. Why not start at the top so that the rest of us will have some faith in the system? Joann Geist, Colfax
