Kovacich trial on break until January

The trial for former Placer County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Paul Kovacich will be on hold over the holidays and resume on Jan. 5. Kovacich has pleaded not guilty to the charge of murder with the use of a firearm in the Sept. 8, 1982 death and disappearance of his wife, Janet Kovacich. The trial started in October and since then the prosecution has called forward multiple neighbors, law enforcement officials and expertson a variety of subjects including a forensic anthropologist and a DNA expert. The defense has yet to have their turn to call forward witnesses. The Kovacich trial will resume at 9 a.m. Jan. 5 in Dept. 33 at the Bill Santucci Justice Center in Roseville. -Jenifer Gee
