Lady Falcons Capture Galt Tourney Crown
Lindsay Biles tallied 15 points and Cassie Harrison added 12 as the Colfax Lady Falcons girls basketball team raced past Liberty Ranch, 52-19, Saturday night to win the championship of the Lady Warrior Invitational tournament played at Galt High.
In Saturday's championship game, the Lady Falcons (4-0), sprinted out to a 26-11 lead by the end of the first half and then put the contest out of reach by posting a 20-point third quarter.
"We played well," said Colfax coach Dave Campbell. "Our first two games of the tournament were actually tougher than the championship game. But we got to play a lot of players and that was good."
In their tournament opener, Colfax used a balanced scoring attack to get past Central Valley of Ceres, 43-34. Amber Tobiasz led the way with 11 points while Biles followed with nine, Taylor Avila eight and Raegan Lillie with five.
The semi-final round found the Lady Falcons matched up against Rio Americano and after a close first half the Colfax cagers pulled away to a 48-26 win. Lillie, who was the tournament's MVP, scored 14 points while Kylie Kirkland added 11, Tobiasz nine and Biles six.
