-A +A
A Lake of the Pines man charged with 78 felonies will face a judge again in March. William Lawson Campbell, who was 64 when he was arrested, is scheduled for a felony conference at 1 p.m. March 3 in Nevada City. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office arrested Campbell for allegedly taking $650,000 from 50 victims through various investment scams. Many of his alleged victims were his Lake of the Pines neighbors. Campbell’s most recent felony conference was originally scheduled for Jan. 13, but was continued to Jan. 20, and has now been continued to March. Campbell’s attorney, Greg Klein of Nevada City, declined to comment Friday on the continuation of the proceedings and the prosecutor on the case was unavailable for comment. Campbell’s Lake of the Pines home is scheduled for auction at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Nevada City courthouse. ~Bridget Jones
