Let us respect one another

It was special to see a statue of Martin Luther King, Jr. being erected in Washington, D.C. He was a great godly man, and was a tremendous example for all of us. Has it ever occurred to any of us that we really are different shades of brown? Have we really seen a “black” or “white” person? Look in the mirror, and see what shade of brown you are. We need to come to the place where we respect each other as fellow human beings. We have some very special friends that are peacemakers, are true role models, and come in all shades of brown. There is no reason why we can’t work together. If we will we all have to give an account to God for our actions. Why not work on positive actions … beginning now! The Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a tremendous role model for all of us to follow. That is why many of us truly have been saddened by his tragic death. If we really want to honor him, let’s work together, and respect each other in his memory. Whatever we put into our minds, determines what comes out in our words and actions. ELLY DERR, Auburn
