Lincoln shoots down Placer on the links

Three Lincoln golfers shot 3-over-par 39s to tie for medallist honors and lead the Fighting Zebras past Placer 207-223 in Pioneer Valley League action at Lincoln Hills Golf Club Thursday. Ryan Holden shot a 42 to lead the Hillmen, while Matt Lunsford finished with a 43. Rob Schauble and Max Munger both shot 45s and Nick Veatch had a 47. Placer, which has a bye Tuesday, wrapped up the first half of the season 4-2. The Hillmen play Mesa Verde at Auburn Country Club next Thursday. Colfax 202, Whitney 219 at Winchester Country Club — Austin Heikila’s 2-over-par 38 on the tough Winchester layout led the Falcons as they remained unbeateon on the season. Derek Zachman carded a 39 for Colfax (4-0). Kyle Young and Jordan Hartman both shot 41 and Danny Kraker added a 43 for the Falcons. Bear River 203, Mesa Verde 262 at Lake of the Pines Golf Course — Co-medallists Taylor Daniels and Brennan Southworth both fired 2-over-par 37s to lead the Bruins (3-2). Anthony Ertola shot a 42 followed by Hayden Lavelle (43) and Andrew Jackson (44). Bear River plays Colfax at Winchester Country Club Monday. Forest Lake Christian 229, Woodland Christian 244 at Dark Horse Golf Club — After a scheduling mixup resulted in the Falcons driving to Woodland while the Cardinals were on their way to Auburn, Forest Lake made it back up the hill in time to host Woodland. Medallist Johnny Umamoto fired a 3-over-par 39 to pace the Falcons (3-0 Central Valley Christian League). Maxx Mamula and Colby Shaules both shot 47s, while Travis Stokes and Austin Rosene each finished with 48s.
