After making a large purchase such as buying a new vehicle, it's important to get it serviced regularly so it will perform properly and last a long time. To let potential customers know what the local auto dealers' service centers offer, we're profiling Auburn-area dealerships' service departments. Below is the fifth in a series of question-and-answer profiles. Below, Emile LaChambre, service manager for Magnussen's Dodge Chrysler Jeep in Auburn, answers questions about his shop. What services do you provide? We have the tools, training and technology that allows us to provide everything from a basic oil change to the most advanced electric engine repairs. What technology is available in your department? Chrysler provides us with Web access that allows for up-to-the-minute updates on all repairs. We also have the latest in equipment for all types of services ” alignments, tires, etc. Can I get a smog check there and what is the cost? Yes, it's $52 plus $8.25 for the certificate. What's the most advanced equipment you have? Our Starscan is state of the art. We are able to perform diagnostic testing on every aspect of a new Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep vehicle. How big is your service area and how many vehicles can you accommodate? We have 14 service bays and we service 40 to 55 vehicles daily. How many technicians, service advisers, and other personnel do you have in your department? We currently employ three advisers, 14 technicians, and eight support employees. Do you have any specially certified technicians? Every technician employed at Magnussen's Dodge Chrysler Jeep is factory certified and possesses Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications. Do you have a quick lube department and how long does an oil change take and what does it cost? No, we do not have a quick lube department. Our oil changes are performed by our trained lube technicians and are generally completed in 30 to 45 minutes. Do you have a detail business with service, and if so what services does it offer? Yes. We are able to offer interior and exterior detail services to keep your vehicle looking new. What services do you provide that other garages might not have? I would have to say that our ability to work on the entire vehicle. Not just brakes, mufflers, oil changes or transmissions. Do you have a courtesy shuttle service for customers who drop their cars off? Yes, and it's available six days a week.
