A man charged with attempted robbery remained jailed Monday after he allegedly threatened a young man on an Auburn freeway overpass. At about 8:57 p.m. Friday, the Auburn Police dispatch center received a 911 call from a male saying he was the victim of an attempted robbery while walking the Elm Avenue Interstate 80 overpass, according to Officer James Dalton. The victim said the suspect, who was later identified as 31-year-old Jessie Breshears, allegedly threatened to hurt the victim while he grabbed his arm and told him to empty his pockets, Dalton said in a news release. The victim was able to escape and called 911 from a nearby business. He then gave a description of three possible suspects, who were later found by officer on the 100 block of Elm Avenue. The victim pointed to Breshears as the one who threatened him and Breshears was arrested on a felony charge of attempted robbery. The other two supposed suspects were not directly involved, Dalton said. There were no reported injuries and no property was stolen, Dalton added. Breshears remained in Placer County Jail Monday held on $100,000 bail. ~ Staff report
