Meadow Vista’s Bartley Backus aired concerns about what he described during the public comment period of Tuesday’s Placer County Board of Supervisors meeting as harmful microwave systems in county buildings. Citing studies on what he says are the deleterious effects of electromagnetic fields on humans, he said the radio and microwave systems amount to “premeditated criminal assault and battery.” Backus left a book titled “The Body Electric” with supervisors. He stated the alleged assaults had affected his blood pressure. Backus said he has already complained to more than a dozen government agencies, as well as law enforcement. There were no comments or questions from supervisors after Backus spoke. Members of the public are given up to three minutes at the start of the Board of Supervisors’ meeting to address any issue not on that day’s agenda. – Gus Thomson
