Welcome to the Auburn Journal’s “Noon Hour Update,” where we’ll present you with stories and updates on what’s going on in the news and what we’re working on for our Wednesday edition.

What we’re working on: The heated debate over whether or not some rural property owners can put in facilities under the community center designation to host events came to a head today at the Placer County Board of Supervisors, where they were set to make a decision on one property owner’s application. Reporter Gus Thomson was there and will have a full report on the vote.

The Auburn Police Department is promoting from within. Reporter Jon Schultz will have a story on who the new second in command is as Chief John Ruffcorn names a new lieutenant.

What you’re talking about:  Several of our stories have readers commenting today. Our piece on the mountain lion and our story on the Robbers Fire suspect have received comments so far today. Read these stories and more and share your thoughts.
