Welcome to the Auburn Journal’s “Noon Hour Update,” where we’ll present you with stories and updates on what’s going on in the news and what we’re working on for our Thursday edition.

What we’re working on:  Where do things stand on the regional sewer? Reporter Jon Schultz is hoping to find out as he looks into where the talks are currently at. Jon is also following up on the Horizon Charter Schools closings in Placer County.

Local law enforcement is in a battle with each itself – for charity. Reporter Gus Thomson went out to the Battle of the Badges Wednesday where local law enforcement is raising funds for the Salvation Army’s red kettle campaign. Gus is also continuing his series on local churches’ involvement in the holidays.

Sports Editor Matthew Kimel will be out on the hardwood Wednesday night covering Placer High School girls basketball.

What you’re talking about: Our story on Senator Ted Gaines seeking to close a gun ownership ‘loophole’ has received plenty of online comments so far today. Read this story and more and share your thoughts.
