Welcome to the Auburn Journal’s “Noon Hour Update,” where we’ll present you with stories and updates on what’s going on in the news and what we’re working on for our Tuesday edition.

What we’re working on:  Over the weekend a shooting took place where one man died and another drove himself to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Reporter Jon Schultz is following up on our weekend coverage and will have more details on the case. Jon is also working on a story about how people should be on alert for ticks and Lyme disease.

Sports Editor Matthew Kimel has a feature on Fast Fridays racer Billy Janniro who took down a group of heralded Europeans at the recent Monster Energy World Speedway Challenge at Industry Speedway in Southern California.

What you’re talking about: Our initial story on the shooting from over the weekend has several readers sharing their thoughts on the incident. Other stories receiving interest are our one on local alcohol vendors being cited for serving to minors and our other piece on one local family losing a longtime redwood on their property. Read these stories and more and share your thoughts.
