Welcome to the Auburn Journal’s “Noon Hour Update,” where we’ll present you with stories and updates on what’s going on in the news and what we’re working on for our Sunday print and online editions.

What we’re working on:  Social media these days isn’t just about posting photos of family and friend get-togethers or videos -- it can also be used to apprehended criminals. Reporter Jon Schultz has a feature on how Auburn law enforcement used these social sites to solve a crime. Also, Jon will have a story on how the holidays aren’t merry for everyone and how they can get through them with help.

Reporter Gus Thomson continues his Auburn Churches at Christmas series with part four on Sunday profiling the Mormon church in town. Gus is also looking into the Auburn Recreation District’s review of a possible indoor shooting range being built.

What you’re talking about: In our Letters to the Editor section several writers’ opinions have online readers commenting. Check out the letters “John Hinckley was tackled” and “Robie Point angels serenade” and share your thoughts.
