RE: Gordon Frazier’s letter: “Keep parks fees as they were,” (Journal, Aug. 23). Gordon: You are misinformed concerning superintendent Mike Lynch’s authority to raise park fees here in Auburn. The fee raise is taking place statewide. The directive to raise fees came from headquarters in Sacramento. The last person you should be outraged with is Mike Lynch. You say: The park employees should be spending their time keeping the parks safe for the public. That’s my primary duty as a ranger. The other park employees you see are performing a thankless job of cleaning the restrooms and keeping the trash cans emptied. The Auburn State Recreation Area is one of the largest state parks in California. However, the park’s staff is a fraction of the size we really need. Scott Liske, Auburn
