A pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene after being hit by a Ford F-250 pickup truck in Penryn, early Saturday morning. Alen Roley, 38, of Rocklin walked into the middle of Penryn Road, just south of the Penryn Estates, at 2 a.m. when he was struck by the truck, according to Officer David Martinez, spokesman for the Auburn California Highway Patrol, based in Newcastle. He said the driver, a 23-year old Penryn resident, was not responsible for the crash. “As far as what we know it’s pretty cut and dry. The pedestrian walked out in front of the motorist,” Martinez said. “He was pronounced dead at the scene.” Alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor in the accident, according to Martinez. ~ Sara Seyydin
