Placer blanks Lincoln, 4-0

The Placer High girls soccer team busted out of its losing skid with three goals in the first half on their way to a 4-0 romp over Lincoln at Railhead Park Tuesday. Junior Ashley Noder got the scoring started, knocking the ball in off of a corner kick by Karly Kenworthy. Senior Shandra Barrera scored an unassisted goal, then Emma Obray struck on an assist from Ashley Cook before halftme. Barrera tacked on a second-half goal on a feed from Camille Semons. Brittany Bartle had a strong game on defense along with Celeste Havener, Kenworthy and Semons. Alyssa Morford had 10 saves in the shutout victory. Colfax 1, Bear River 1at Colfax — The rivals battled to a tie as two early goals cancelled each other out. Colfax junior Kayla Garcia scored just two minutes into the game on an assist from Katy Thomas. Bear River struck back in the fifth minute with a goal from Morgan Bachus, who took a pass from Maddi Dunn and converted. Bailey Tremoreux had a strong game for the Falcons, along with Elisha Parton and Kate Bianchi. The Falcons remained unbeaten in the Pioneer Valley League at 3-0-1 while Bear River moved to 2-1-1 in league play. In junior varsity play Colfax blanked Bear River 7-0 as Marissa Pontius led the way with two goals. On Monday, Colfax topped Foothill 2-0 with goals from Celeena Wall and Christina Keyes. Garcia had an assist. Forest Lake 5, Victory Christian 2 at Lake of the Pines — The Falcons won an offensive shootout thanks to three goals from freshman Morgan Koch to take sole possession of first place in the Central Valley Christian League. Aly English and Lia Hegarty added goalf for Forest Lake (4-0-1 CVCL). Emily English, Annie Ormiston, Stephanie Herron and Aly English had assists for the Falcons. Herron was outstanding in the net.
