It was déjà vu for the Placer High snowboard team at Northstar Thursday. Caty O'Connor and Nicole Porata finished first and second, respectively, for the second straight day to lead the Hillgals to first place at the California-Nevada Interscholastic Ski and Snowboard Federation championships. Placer's dynamic duo also finished 1-2 in the girls top 10 all-state. The Hillgals beat second-place Mt. Shasta and third-place North Tahoe in the team competition. Colfax was eighth in the girls competition, and fourth overall in state combined with the Falcon boys. Senior Hailey Stockman also did well in Thursday's slalom, finishing 11th overall for the Hillgals. It was the second straight state title for O'Connor, a sophomore. Porata earned all-state honors for the third time in her fourth straight trip to state. She took third last year as a junior. Hannah West was 19th overall to lead Colfax, followed by Jeni Dawson (22nd) and Emma O'Bray (27th). Will Hitchcock led the way for the Colfax boys, finishing 12th overall and ninth in the top 10 all-state results. Mitchell Cohodes (19th) and Drew Steinhoff (39th) also raced well for the Falcons. Colfax finished third behind El Dorado and North Tahoe in the boys results.
