Before Joshua Hardt was an Army hero, he was a hero on the football field at Placer High. His alma mater honored the soldier who was killed in Afghanistan earlier this month by presenting a framed No. 13 Placer jersey to his wife Olivia before Friday’s homecoming game against Capital Christian. Hardt played outside linebacker for coach Mike Sabins, earning all-Sierra Foothill League honors in 2003. He graduated in 2004. Sabins, now an assistant coach at Placer, was on hand to make the presentation, along with current head coach Joey Montoya, athletic director Mark Lee and U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Stu Elliot. — Journal sports staff
