The Placer High tennis team opened Pioneer Valley League play with a resounding 9-0 victory at Lincoln Thursday. The Hillmen rallied for two tiebreaker wins to complete the sweep. Dan Fraguglia posted a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 1 boys singles. Will Huskey was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at No. 2. Amelia Arnold cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 girls singles and teammate Tori Winters rolled to a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2. In boys doubles, Cameron McCallister and Dan Ragusano won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1. Marco Barela and Brad Ray were 6-0, 6-1 winners at No. 2. Amy Von Groening and Andrea Jilot teamed up for a 4-6, 6-2, 11-9 win at No. 1 girls doubles. Bailey Bill and Melissa Stoll posted a 6-4, 7-5 victory at No. 2. Drew Bischel and Jenny Anthony combined for a 2-6, 6-4, 11-9 win in mixed doubles. Whitney 5, Colfax 4 at Colfax — The Wildcats edged the Falcons in the PVL opener for both teams as the visitors won two super tiebreakers to clinch it. In boys singles, Josh Parker and Justin Witt were winners for Colfax. Rachel Fritz had a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2 girls singles. Kirsten Kelly and Jessica Sanchez rallied for an 0-6, 6-4, 10-7 at No. 2 girls doubles. Forest Lake 6, San Juan 3 at Citrus Heights — Forest Lake improved to 2-0 in the Golden Empire League with a hard-fought road win. Caitlin Hanson cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 1 girls singles – the Falcons lone singles victory. Ally Weir and Amanda Timmerman picked up a 10-6 win at No. 1 and Courtney Turner and Holly McClain won 10-1 at No. 2 girls doubles. Colin Rafter and Nathan Burnett combined on a 10-8 win at No. 1 boys doubles.
