Placer tennis cruises past Lincoln

The Placer High tennis team cruised to another Pioneer Valley League victory Tuesday afternoon, drubbing visiting Lincoln 8-1. Dan Fraguglia and Will Huskey posted straight-set wins in boys singles action. Emily Schoenhoff and Meredith Evancie were winners in two sets on the girls side. Cameron McCallister and Yannic Pfisterer won 10-7 at No. 1 boys doubles. Mike Fraguglia and Dan Ragusano were 10-2 winners at No. 2. Farrah Dobbas teamed with Marissa Rodriguez for a 10-1 win at No. 1 girls doubles. Amelia Arnold and Kristin Rolffson posted a 10-2 win at No. 2. Placer will host a doubles tournament today, beginning at 1 p.m. Colfax 9, Whitney 0 at Colfax ” Junior Heidi Graves and senior Kari Zajac each won their girls singles matches in straight 6-0 sets to lead the Falcons (7-1, 4-1 Pioneer Valley League) past the Wildcats. Junior Josh Parker and sophomore Justin Witt swept the boys singles matches by respective scores of 6-4, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-4. In doubles play, seniors Emmanuel Orozco and Brenden Armstrong won the No. 1 boys match 10-0. The mixed doubles tandem of senior Kyle Berchert and junior Angela Ignoffo and the No. 2 girls pairing of juniors Rachel Fritz and Katie Jenkens also won by the same score. Seniors Steve Bosby and Mike Hinrichs won the No. 2 boys doubles match 10-1. Senior Mari Katsura and sophmore Laura Zajac triumphed 10-2 in the No. 1 girls doubles match. Granite Bay 6, Del Oro 3 at Loomis ” Freshman Sean Kolar, sophomore Brandon Bailey and junior Taylor Carrington each won singles matches for the Golden Eagles, who fell to 3-2 in the Sierra Foothill League. Kolar cruised to a 6-1, 6-4 win in the No. 1 singles match. Carrington also won easily at No. 6 singles, posting a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Bailey had a much tougher go of things in the No. 5 singles slot, dropping his first match 6-1 before winning the next two, 7-6 and 7-5.
