Placer ties El Dorado on pitch

Despite taking 15 shots on goal, the Placer High girls soccer team played to a scoreless tie with visiting El Dorado in Pioneer Valley League action Monday at Le Febvre Stadium. Karly Kenworthy and Kayla Lipsmeyer played standout defensive games and goalkeeper Aubrey Furlong made a few stellar saves for the Hillgals, who enter Wednesday’s game at Whitney 6-7-3 overall and 4-4-1 in the PVL. Forest Lake Christian 5, Victory Christian 0 at Lake of the Pines — Christa Weisman scored two goals and added an assist as the Falcons posted their 10th straight shutout to improve to 14-1 overall and 10-0 in the Central Valley Christian League. Kacie McGeary had a goal and an assist in the win, while Rachel Jordan and Taylor Engbrecht also scored. Katelyn Seitz, Lindsey Engbrecht and Dana Ormiston added assists. Goalkeeper Morghan Pomeroy made nine saves for Forest Lake, which travels to Mesa Verde Wednesday for a nonleague clash. Golden Sierra 6, San Juan 0 at Citrus Heights — Claire Dougherty scored three goals to lead the rout as the Grizzlies won their fourth straight since a nonleague loss to El Dorado. MacKenzi Gleason, Vanessa Liddicoat and Stephanie Rosa also scored in the victory. Alexa McComb had two assists. Goalkeepers Kayla Anderson and Gracie Adams-Handy combined for the shutout. Golden Sierra (13-3-2 overall, 8-0-1 Golden Empire League) hosts Lindhurst Wednesday.
