On behalf of Placer High Girls Volleyball, our players, coaches and Booster’s Club, I would like to thank the Auburn community for your generous support. As you’ve read in recent Auburn Journal articles, funding for high school sports and other activities has been severely affected by California’s budget woes and the recent ACLU lawsuit. The result is an uncertain financial future for all sports, including Placer’s strong girls volleyball program. Recently, we held a series of fundraisers to support the 38 young women who currently play on our talented varsity, JV and freshman teams. I am extremely humbled and incredibly appreciative of the tremendous support received from parents, fans and the Auburn community in general. Our annual car wash, held on Aug. 27, nearly doubled the amount of funds raised compared to last year, shattering our previous car wash record and generating $3,145. Special thanks to our friends at Maidu Market for allowing us to hold our car wash at their location. We have also seen significant support through program advertising and donations from families and fans, including special support from many Placer Girls Volleyball alumni. Still, it costs a minimum of $6,000 to $8,000 to cover the basic costs of officials, tournaments, uniforms, equipment, training and transportation. Your continued support is both welcome and appreciated. Thank you, again, to the Auburn community. And I hope you will join us this fall for another exciting season!
