Placer volleyball keeps PVL title hopes intact

Kelsey Lardner and the Placer High volleyball team swept past El Dorado Tuesday night in Placerville, keeping their hopes of a Pioneer Valley League championship alive. The Hillgals (7-1 PVL) won 25-17, 25-23, 25-23 as Lardner dished out 15 assists to go with 10 digs and four aces. Senior Julia Dorsey added nine kills while Colleen Stafford added eight kills, nine digs and 13 assists. Placer will face Whitney on Thursday in Rocklin. In junior varsity action, El Dorado beat Placer 25-22, 25-17. The Placer freshmen topped El Dorado 25-7, 25-5. Vacaville Christian 3, Forest Lake 1 at Vacaville — The Falcons hung tough with the Central Valley Christian League leaders, but fell 25-18, 25-23, 22-25, 25-22. Caitlin Hanson led Forest Lake (5-3 CVCL) with 11 kills, eight digs and five blocks. Morghan Pomeroy added eight blocks while Leslie Johnston tossed in eight kills and three blocks. Jen Menary dished out 19 assists to go with a team-high 15 digs. Forest Lake’s junior varsity beat Vacaville Christian 25-17, 25-10.
