Ponderosa cruises past Golden Sierra in opener

GARDEN VALLEY — Golden Sierra led after one quarter before losing starting point guard Jamey Danielson-McKeague to injury in a 55-35 season-opening loss to visiting Ponderosa Monday night. Alison Ryan finished with 15 points for the Bruins to lead all scorers. The Grizzlies led 19-15 after the first quarter, but mustered single digit scoring over the final three quarters without Danielson-McKeague. Adriana Palmiere scored a team-high nine points for Golden Sierra, while Jessica Blair had six points, Shannon Cummings had five and Tauri Smith chipped in with four. The Grizzlies look to bounce back when they travel to Bradshaw Christian tonight for a 6 p.m. tip-off.
