Proposition 8 a moral issue, not a political issue

-A +A
The rally for “Yes on Proposition 8” held at the Auburn Library outdoor theater yesterday was wonderful. The speakers were powerful and I learned even more about the detrimental affects that homosexual relationships have on children, families and society and the far-reaching consequences that would affect all of us if we fail to pass Prop. 8. I have never been one to get involved in political issues, but Prop. 8 is not a political issue — it is a moral issue and I must take a stand and let my voice be heard. I am outraged that four California Supreme Court judges overturned what 61 percent of California voters already passed: that “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.” Marriage does not need to be redefined — it needs to be respected and preserved. I hope that everyone will make the effort to vote and will seriously consider this most important issue on the November ballot, look at all the facts and make an informed decision. Sherry Jones Auburn
